VIRGO 2023 - Rafal Zajko

Chochol, a Polish folklore character, is the personification of a straw structure positioned around rosebushes, protecting them from harsh winter conditions. He can be considered as a symbol of rebirth, a harvest that provides life and the ability to grow. London-based polish artist Rafal Zajko regularly invokes this figure through performances and did so for this proposition. Virgo is an earth sign historically represented by the goddess of wheat and agriculture who likewise accompanies nature in its transition during autumn.

This year, the Virgo will set sail on an emotional journey, a period of exploration and new beginnings as Neptune - planet of emotions and the unconscious - stands in opposition. Chochol personifies not only the sign, but also his initiatory path, a fruitful harvest of hidden and deep rooted goods.
