Jakob Rowlinson's work is an oddity, a queerness. His obsessive relationship to knowledge in anatomy, astrology and medieval art made him a catalyst for influences. His work is a subversion of visual languages, contemporary and historical, natural and cultural, religious and LGBTQIA+. He takes these languages, folds them, assembles them, reconfigures them. He forms writings ranging from medieval marginalia to Instagram memes and assembles what is a priori dissonant until it becomes an obvious unity, an organic body.
