CANCER 2025 - Jonathan Vidal

Jonathan Vidal (b.1990, Hyères) is a graduate of HEAD-Genève and ESADMM (Marseille). In recent years, his practice has largely focused on the analysis and formal depiction of neoliberal doctrines and their underlying violence. He has actively assembled an archive of texts and images—ranging from advertising visuals to article quotes—sourced from a collection of books and magazines, including The Economist, covering a period from the 1990s to the early 2000s. In his work, the transition from theory to form often takes place through speculative narratives. Vidal revisits fragments of these sources, reinterpreting them in painting, drawing, and sculpture. His work tends towards constructing a speculative logic that highlights and plays with the symbolic dysfunctions and beliefs inherent in these value systems.
